cleanup: do not pass an empty snapshot to genSnapFromSnapID()

Just like GenVolFromVolID() the genSnapFromSnapID() function can return
a snapshot. There is no need to allocated an empty snapshot and pass
that to the genSnapFromSnapID() function.
